Goshin Ryu Karate CampTraditionally camps are held twice a year in the scenic Blue Mountains, at Blackheath. Blackheath is approximately 15km west of Katoomba on the Great Western Highway west of Sydney. Who is Invited?The camp is suitable and open to all grades and we encourage middle to lower grades to attend. A number of alternative accommodation options are available. Blackheath has a variety of small shops as well as a number of places to eat. There is a garage, post office, various parks, free swimming pool and a police station. What is Involved?Training is held over two days, Saturday & Sunday - approximately 6 training sessions. This includes any special guest instructors. FANTASTIC BLACK BELT DEMONSTRATIONS ARE HELD ON THE SATURDAY EVENINGWho Do I Train With?There will be Black Belt teachers from around Sydney, NSW and interstate as well as regular guest instructors from other styles and Martial Arts types. We encourage you to train with others that you don't normally train with. We will spend at least one full session in a restricted group, working on kata(s) for your next grading. Shared AccommodationEvery cabin/house will be assigned a senior grade to oversee and to organise food, beds etc. In general cabins will be organised at a club level so friends will be able to stay together. Rooms are not mixed. Food preparation & cleanliness of the cabins are a shared responsibility. If you are sending children of 18 yrs and younger, you will be required to have pre-arranged adequate supervision with a senior member of your local club prior to your child arriving at the camp. What to Bring:
If you are arriving Friday evening, please bring food to last until after the first training session (including breakfast). There is a pool in the park, which can be used during free time. All children are to be accompanied by an adult. Where to GoBlackheath is approximately 15km west of Katoomba on the Great Western Highway. Turn right at the traffic lights, outside the Ivanhoe Hotel, into Govetts Leap Rd. Follow the road down the hill, past a slight bend to the left, and turn left into Lakeview Street. The cabins are at the bottom of the dead end road on the right hand side. As you drive into the bottom driveway, look for Cabin number 4 on the right hand side. You will be assigned to your cabin once there. Friday evening is your own free time. If going directly to the community centre hall where training is conducted, it is on the corner of the next street west from the traffic lights along the Great Western Highway, opposite Blackheath Train Station. When to ArriveMost people arrive on Friday evening, as the cabins are available. Try organising car-pooling with members of your local club.
