OUTLINEThe Grading Syllabus outlines the minimum skill required for each grade. The conditions of the Grading Syllabus may vary from time to time at the Instructor's discretion. Conditioning: Gradings will incorporate a conditioning session designed to develop and improve muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance. Pre-Gradings: Held 1 week prior to a grading, the Local Instructor will assess bunkai (3 moves from kata - green belts and above), kumite, attitude, effort and spirit and give permission for students to grade. Receiving permission to grade does not mean students are guaranteed to pass the grading. Tournament Points: Purple belts and above must obtain at least 6 tournament points* a year in order to advance to their next grade. If a grading falls before a student has obtained their tournament points for that year, then the student will remain a provisional grade until all 6 points for that year are obtained. *Tournament Points:Goshin Ryu Karate National Championships = 6 points. Any other tournament = 3 points.
